Chocolate Heaven

If you are having a chocolate craving this is the desert to make! I got this from the book Ten-Cow Wives' Club by Joni Hilton, obviously a reference to Johnny Lingo.

Chocolate Heaven
(Small Batch-Not Zoo Sized)

1 cup flour
1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup sugar
3 Tablespoons cocoa powder
½ cup milk
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 Tablespoons cocoa powder
1 ¾ cups hot water
Vanilla ice cream, optional (Don't skip this, it is so yummy!)

Combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and 3 Tablespoons cocoa in a large bowl. Stir in the milk and oil until smooth. Pour into greased 8-inch square baking pan. Combine the brown sugar and 3 Tablespoons cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over top, but do not stir. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. It makes its own sauce, so serve it in bowls.

Serves 6-8.

Chocolate Heaven
(Large Batch-Zoo Sized)

2 cup flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
¼ cup plus 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup milk
¼ cup plus 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups packed brown sugar
¼ cup plus 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
3 ½ cups hot water
Vanilla ice cream, optional (you will really want this option!)

Serves 12-16.
